Looking for anything “Green” in Israel- The Green Prophet is the place to go

A great website with so much information. My only complaint is that its a little hard to navigate, I had some trouble finding some articles. Once I found them it was well worth it. I think its suprising to learn how many green inventions and technologies were created in Israel. Did you know that the drip irrigation system was created here in Israel? Israel also was one of the first to create low flush toilets to conserve water and simple but effective solar water heaters.
With the good, always comes the bad. In some ways Israel is on the forefront when it comes to Green issues, however I would be lying if I said they were a world leader in Green policies. There is very little recyling facilities available for the public and they are hard to access for many people. Littering is prevalent all over. You will frequently see cigarette butts and plastic shopping bags lying all over the streets and parks. No one really takes the no littering signs or fines seriously and there is little enforcement. Most of the Israelis seem to be too concerned with terrorism and other issues to worry and put attention to green issues or campaigns.
I am optomistic that Israel will also step up to the plate soon. Israel is a young country and with the help of these organizations and groups will hopefully educate the Israelis on the importance of taking care of this beautiful environment.
